Joy To The World – Advanced Preview!

First Official Look at Nicola Coughlan in Doctor Who's 2024 Christmas ...

The Bridgerton star has an awkward hotel room encounter with Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor in an exclusive clip shown at San Diego Comic-Con.

Doctor Who fans at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con were treated to an exclusive clip from the upcoming Christmas special, guest-starring Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls) as Joy. Debuting at the Hall H panel on Friday 26th July, the clip was introduced with a special video message from Nicola.

“I am thrilled to be joining Doctor Who for the Christmas special this year, and I am so excited for you to meet my character, Joy.”

In the exclusive 3-minute clip, we see Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor appearing in random points through Earth’s history – offering a ham and cheese toastie and pumpkin spice latte to the bewildered people he meets – before eventually meeting Joy at her hotel room in London, 2024. Meanwhile, Joy, who has just checked in, finds herself much less alone in her single hotel room than previously anticipated…

Where has the Doctor been? What did Joy see in her room? And who is the ham and cheese toastie really for? We’ll have to find out when Doctor Who returns this Christmas…

Doctor Who fans, rejoice! A new set of portraits of all the Doctor Who leads has materialised, thanks to the BBC.

And they’re all looking mighty swish, all the way from William Hartnell’s first Time Lord (the original, you might say) to Tom Baker (sporting his signature scarf), Matt Smith and his very cool bowtie, a stern-looking Christopher Eccleston and, finally, incumbent Doctor Jodie Whittaker.

As a nice touch, even John Hurt’s War Doctor – the incarnation between the Eighth and Ninth Doctor – features, complete with a retro sonic screwdriver in hand.

Illustrated by Jeremy Enecio, all portraits will be unveiled to fans at San Diego Comic-Con, which kicks off on Thursday 18th July and concludes on Sunday 21st July.

Unfortunately, Whittaker and Tardis Team Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill won’t appear on a panel, but plenty of treats are still in store for sci-fi fans.
