Immersive Doctor Who experience Time Fracture is closing its doors early, with the final shows taking place in early June.

The interactive theatrical experience, which has had a troubled run since it opened last year, was due to continue until early September.

The news was shared by the Doctor Who: Time Fracture Twitter account, with a statement reading:

“Our journey through space and time is coming to an end sooner than expected – but what a joyful journey this has been.”

Confirming the “final mission” would take place on 5th June 2022, it added: “Time Fracture is a love letter to Doctor Who and, despite facing extreme challenges over the past two years, we are extremely proud that its vision and ambition was so beautifully delivered.

“Thank you for being part of our wibbly wobbly, timey wimey adventure.”

Fans who have tickets for a performance due to take place after 5th June will be contacted by their ticket suppliers soon and entitled to an exchange or refund.

In a statement a spokesperson said:

“After 12 months, Immersive Everywhere has taken the difficult decision to close Doctor Who Time Fracture in London on 6 June.

“This has been one of the most challenging times for the industry and while our mission to stop the Time Fracture and save the universe is on hold for now, we are grateful to the entire company, past and present, for making the experience so joyful for audiences.“Ticket holders for shows on and after 6 June will be entitled to a full refund and will be contacted by the ticketing agent in due course.”

In July 2021, shortly after opening, Time Fracture was forced to shut its doors after sustaining serious flood damage. It opened again in November.

The immersive experience places fans at the centre of the action in an original story, with the synopsis reading: “For decades, UNIT have fought undetected to protect the people of Earth from the dangers it poses. Weakened and beaten back as the fracture’s multiplied out of control, they’re close to defeat.”

Doctor Who: Time Fracture is set to reopen its doors later this month – with repairs having been made following flood damage earlier in the year.

The immersive experience was forced to close in July when heavy flooding hit the Mayfair building where it is located, leading to extensive damage.

But now various measures have been put in place – including the installation of a flood defence system – that will allow Whovians to visit the exhibit once again.

The repairs themselves had been affected by further flooding when rainstorms in September and October led to severe setbacks, but the work is now complete and the adventure will open again from Friday 26th November.

Several new cast members will also join the Unit HQ team for the reopening – with the new faces including Amber Blease, Myles Devonte, Harrie Dobby, Barry McStay, Khadija Sallet, Megan Shandley, Patrick Strain, Tom Telford and Simon Victor.

To celebrate the good news, a four-minute featurette has been released that gives fans a glimpse into some of the worlds experienced in the exhibit, offering a whirlwind tour of Unit HQ – check it out below:

Doctor Who: Time Fracture originally opened in May this year, promising to put “fans at the heart of the story, plunged into a journey across space and time”.

The show features pre-filmed cameo appearances from a number of Doctor Who stars and alumni, including Doctors Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Jo Martin and Jodie Whittaker and companions such as Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Jon Culshaw as the Brigadier and Alex Kingston as River Song

Doctor Who: Time Fracture runs until April 2022 and tickets are on sale now.

A video featuring John Barrowman is to be removed from an immersive Doctor Who theatre show following allegations about the actor’s past conduct.

He is accused of repeatedly exposing himself while filming the BBC show.

Mr Barrowman was to have been seen as his Captain Jack Harkness character in a pre-recorded video to be shown during the Doctor Who: Time Fracture show.

Mr Barrowman has previously apologised for his behaviour but has not responded to the show’s decision to drop him.

In a message on its website, the show’s producers said it had “taken the decision to remove this pre-record”.

Mr Barrowman was introduced as Captain Jack in a 2005 episode of Doctor Who and went on to play the character in spin-off show Torchwood.

The popular character made a return appearance in Revolution of the Daleks, this year’s Doctor Who New Year’s Day special.

Mr Barrowman’s conduct has come under scrutiny in recent days in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations made against his former co-star Noel Clarke.

Mr Barrowman’s behaviour was reportedly viewed as “inappropriate pranks” and not intended to be or regarded as sexual in nature.

A video of Mr Clarke at a 2015 sci-fi convention joking about Mr Barrowman habitually exposing his genitals resurfaced and went viral earlier this month.

Mr Barrowman apologised in 2008 for exposing his genitals during a live BBC Radio 1 broadcast. At the time he said he “was joining in the light-hearted and fun banter” and had gone “too far”.

In a new statement given to The Guardian this month, he said his “high-spirited behaviour” was “only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage”.

“With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously,” he continued.

“Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.”

Mr Barrowman was to have been seen alongside fellow Doctor Who cast member David Bradley in videos to be shown during Doctor Who: Time Fracture.

The producers of the theatre production had previously released a video in which Mr Barrowman discussed the popularity of Doctor Who and his character.

In their statement, the producers said they would “continue to include content that pays tribute to this brilliant show that is Torchwood so as not to disappoint its fans.”

The interactive production, which has cast of more than 40 live performers, is scheduled to begin performances at a venue in central London on 26 May.

Earlier this week ITV declined to confirm if Mr Barrowman would continue as a judge on Dancing On Ice, saying decisions about the next series’ line-up had yet to be made.
