Series 12 Trailer – First Look
The first look that fans have been waiting for is finally here, after the BBC revealed that an official trailer for series 12 would be turning up on Doctor Who Day (Saturday, November 23) at 3pmGMT.
The first glimpse of the new episodes tease old monsters including the Judoon – and, as The Doctor declares
“something is coming for me, I can feel it”, the Cybermen…
A creature is also seen materialising through the TARDIS doors – to the Doctor’s surprise…
We also get firm confirmation that at least one episode of the new series will see the Doctor and companions end up in occupied Paris in 1943, right in the middle of World War II.
Saturday’s trailer launch follows a full week of huge Doctor Who announcements for 2020, starting with the casting of comedy legends Stephen Fry and Sir Lenny Henry in significant roles.
Fry’s character is seen telling The Doctor and co:
“The security of this entire planet is at stake. Can we rely on you?”
Then, Hustle star Robert Glenister and ER‘s Goran Višnjić were confirmed to be joining Jodie Whittaker and her companions Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill for their latest adventures.
The Doctor and her fam will need all the help they can get, because she will be squaring off with the Judoon and a host of “absolutely terrifying” new monsters designed to bring the series “up a level”, according to showrunner Chris Chibnall.
“I think we’ve got some amazing monsters. It’s probably a bit scarier,” Chibnall has said.
“The thing is with Doctor Who, you’ve got to hit all of the notes… We’ve definitely got some bigger action set pieces. We’ve got some old monsters coming back.
“We’ve got some really brilliant new monsters. And there’s a little thread trickling through. It’s not the same. We’re developing the story for the Thirteenth Doctor and this gang.”
