But the actor thinks it’s “good” to have creative disagreements.

Peter Capaldi has opened up about his creative relationship with Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat.

The actor told press including Digital Spy that he and Moffat sometimes disagree on the “direction” of the series – but only to a healthy degree.

“I think Steven’s fantastic and the team we have are fantastic, and to be honest my hands are pretty full just playing the Doctor,” he said.

“I trust Steven completely. I have my ideas about where we should go and what the character should be like, and generally we always agree on those.

“Sometimes we don’t, but it all comes out in the wash and I think it’s good to have creative relationships when you can disagree with people.”
Capaldi added that every fan has their own “very personal idea” of what Doctor Who should be.

“I think everybody has their own idea of what Doctor Who is and it’s not the same – everybody doesn’t agree, and that’s the way it should be,” he said.

“So I’m not interested in sticking my oar in where it’s not neccessary, but I will make my feelings felt if I feel it’s going in the wrong direction.”

The pair will be collaborating for a while yet – with both Capaldi and Moffat signed up for 13 more episodes of Doctor Who beyond 2015’s Christmas special.

The current series continues this Saturday (November 14) at 8.15pm on BBC One.
