Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who debut lead BBC iPlayer to its biggest month ever
The BBC iPlayer has enjoyed its biggest month ever, with Killing Eve and Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who debut leading the way.
Doctor Who‘s 11th series premiere (and Whittaker’s full debut) ‘The Woman Who Fell to Earth’ – which last month was confirmed as the show’s highest series launch ever – received a massive 2.96 million requests in the month of October.
It was the second-ranked episode for the month on BBC iPlayer.
Top belonged to the series premiere of the acclaimed Killing Eve, starring Emmy nominee Sandra Oh as the assassin-hunting agent Eve Polastri. The first episode had a remarkable 3.55 million requests.
In fact, six of the top ten entries were for Killing Eve, including the series finale (you can see the full top ten below).
The Cry episode 1 starring Jenna Coleman was third with 2.92 million requests.
In total, BBC iPlayer had a record-high 334 million requests across the whole month of October, a year-on-year improvement of 18%. The final total exceeded January 2018’s number of 328 million.
