(SPOILERS!) Is Doctor Who about to go back to the Victorian Era?

(SPOILERS!) Is Doctor Who about to go back to the Victorian Era?

Peter Capaldi’s latest outfit and the filming shots for what is believed to be Episode 3 of Series 10 sure suggest so. Both The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Bill (Pearl Mackie) were spotted on set today by various fans, dressed in Victorian attire shooting for Series 10.

Though there are plenty of actors on set, there is yet to be any sign of Nardole, played by Matt Lucas, who was announced to be a member of the new TARDIS team last month, and who was seen filming for Episode 1 of Series 10 back in June.

Though we have no confirmation on guest stars for the episode, or even any confirmation that they are filming for Episode 3 of Series 10, many fans have already speculated that the return to the Victorian era could beg for the return of the Paternoster Gang, played by Dan Starkey, Neve McIntosh and Catrin Stewart, however we will have to wait for an actual appearance on screen before we can confirm their appearance to be true, but with filming for this episode starting today, I’m sure if they were to appear, the BBC would be making an announcement of it any day now.

The set has been covered in snow which has made many fans also speculate, that alongside the outfit Capaldi is wearing, the filming pictures feel very reminiscent of ‘The Snowmen’, the Christmas Special back in 2012, which introduced Clara Oswald and featured the Paternoster Gang.

Though filming pictures so far are few, we can definitely tell this shall be a historical episode, and can almost guarantee it will be Victorian, or there abouts. If rumours are true of this being episode 3, it is possible that Mike Bartlett, the writer of multi-award-winning BBC series, Doctor Foster, will have penned the episode, but with a lack of confirmation on which episode of Series 10 he’ll be writing, many fans have speculated that the historical aspect begs to be highlighted as a ‘Gatiss Episode’, so who wrote it? Gatiss or Bartlett? We are yet to know.

The filming is taking place at the car park of several businesses in Enterprise House, opposite Cardiff Bay Station (Lucid Recruitment Ltd, National Parks UK, Alpha Safety Training)

With this being the first day of filming for the episode, with any luck, throughout the coming days we will learn more, as we find ourselves with many questions, and very few answers. Will the Paternoster Gang return? Is this linked to ‘The Snowmen’? Who penned the episode? and most importantly, will Capaldi keep the top hat?

The Gallifreyan Newsroom will, of course, keep you posted as soon as we hear any new developments.
