Doctor Who’s first director Waris Hussein is being honoured with a BFI retrospective

Waris Hussein has been a leading light in film and television since the early 1960s, and will probably be most familiar to our readers as the very first, and very influential, director of Doctor Who. He even became a character (played by Sacha Dhawan, below) in Mark Gatiss’s “origins of Who” drama, An Adventure in Space and Time (2013). There is, of course, so much more to his career. The youngest drama director employed by the BBC in 1960, Waris…

Watch David Tennant reprise 10th Doctor in fun sketch with his wife Georgia (aka The Doctor’s Daughter)

** Warning – This clip contains mild innuendo and may not be suitable for younger readers ** https://twitter.com/georgiaEtennant/status/957666470233870337 It’s not that we haven’t loved the incarnations of the Doctor since, but there’s something about David Tennant’s turn as Doctor Who that really sticks with us. Yes, still. Fortunately, David’s wife Georgia – who has more than a few Doctor Who connections herself – has made our collective days by sharing a throwback clip of her and David as the Doctor. Turns out the French version of Bake Off uses music from Doctor Who

We know the Doctor is partial to a Jammie Dodger, but across the Channel, the Time Lord is helping create even more impressive pastry-feats. The decision to use Jodie Whittaker’s Yorkshire accent

The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine goes on sale this week, and in it, Jodie Whittaker has been chatting about her take on the Doctor, introduced on Christmas Day. She gets the cover of the magazine too, and rightly so. In particular, she’s been chatting about her Doctor using her Yorkshire accent, a decision that seemed very matter of fact. “All the Doctors’ voices have been different”, Whittaker said. “There have been various dialects and I knew coming into…
