The Tenth Doctor and Eighth Doctor action figures, coming soon

The Tenth Doctor and Eighth Doctor action figures, coming soon

Character Options has announced their next batch of Doctor Who products, with four new sets going on sale in August 2022.

These action figures are available from B&M in the UK in August 2022.

Each new addition to this line forms part of the 5.5” figure range and features new decoration as well as multiple points of articulation.

Here’s what to look out for, with details behind each of them:

The Tenth Doctor Set

Doctor Who The Tenth Doctor Collector Figure Set

In this set, there are three all-new variants of the Tenth Doctor. The first figure depicted is the Tenth Doctor in his slightly brighter blue two-piece suit, pale blue shirt and burgundy tie from THE WEDDING OF SARAH JANE SMITH parts one and two. The second figure is based on this same story but sees the Doctor wearing his iconic long duster style overcoat. The final figure of the Tenth Doctor is inspired by the comic book series THE TENTH DOCTOR ADVENTURES. This figure has a particularly ‘ragged’ look, with dirtied blue shirt, tie worn askew, and lower forearms exposed.

The Eighth Doctor Set

Doctor Who The Eighth Doctor Collector Figure Set Group

Fans first encountered the Eighth Doctor back in 1989 after a failed mission to transport the remains of the Master back to Gallifrey. In this three-figure set, he is depicted in all his screen seen outfits from his adventures but with updated decoration.

The first figure is inspired by THE TV MOVIE, with the Eighth Doctor, in an updated version of the costume worn after he regenerated. The second figure depicts the Doctor in his dark blue leather pea coat and jeans from his audio adventures. The decoration has been revised and, for the first time, this figure also has the brown satchel. The final figure in this set is taken from THE NIGHT OF THE DOCTOR, the minisode where he sported a worn green overcoat, ruffled tie, bronze waistcoat, and US Army Cavalry boots. This outfit corresponds with his overall weary appearance during the Time War.

History of the Daleks 9 – ‘Planet of the Daleks’

Doctor Who History of the Daleks Planet of the Daleks set

This duo of Dalek figures set is based on the Third Doctor’s battle with his greatest nemesis, on the planet Spiridon. The first Dalek figure from this set is the Supreme Dalek from this story. This was a redressed ‘movie’ style prop but with some unconventional changes to its overall appearance. Nevertheless, finished in a gold and black colour scheme, and towering over the BBC props it was visually stunning and has remained a fan-favourite despite its limited screen-time. The second figure is the ‘Invisible Dalek’ from the story and is fully representative of a transparent Dalek!

History of the Daleks 10 – ‘Death to the Daleks’

Death to the Daleks

The second History of the Daleks Set features two Daleks from the Third Doctor’s final encounter on-screen with these foes. The TARDIS suffers a complete energy drain and crash lands on the planet Exxilon and, for this story, a visually impressive, but sadly never seen again, silver and matt black livery was chosen to revive the ‘60s feel’ of the props. The first Dalek figure in the set is the ‘unofficial’ leader from this story, and sports orange-tinted dome lights, as well as having the special ‘machine gun’ style weapon, whereas Dalek figure two has clear dome lights and the standard exterminator gun.

Al Dewar Creative Director commented: “I think and hope the fans and collectors will really like these new sets. We have really spent time updating the look of the figures to make them different. The Eighth Doctor set, especially the TV Movie and NIGHT OF THE DOCTOR figures are a real delight and have a much more sophisticated look, befitting a modern action figure. I think they are the best yet. The Tenth Doctor sets have a very different and fresh feel and come with two never released variants. The Dalek sets not only feature new packaging, but we have finally brought to the fans the Dalek Supreme and a fully transparent Dalek from Planet of the Daleks, and the Death to the Daleks set is also very close to my heart!”

These action figures are available from B&M in the UK from August 2022.

Centenary of BBC celebrated in Isle of Man stamp issue

Centenary of BBC celebrated in Isle of Man stamp issue

BBC stamp issue, Isle of Man Post Office

A set of Isle of Man stamps featuring a range of popular BBC’s programmes has been produced to mark the broadcaster’s centenary.

The 12-stamp collection is set to be released by the Isle of Man Post Office on Thursday.

Each features a programme from the the BBC’s history, including Match of the Day, Doctor Who, and Blue Peter.

The post office’s Maxine Cannon said the broadcaster had an “indelible place in the hearts” of people on the island.

The set also marks the island’s connection to the corporation as Castletown-born Sir Frank Gill played “an integral role in its foundation”, she added.

The engineer has been recognised as playing a formative role in the creation of the British Broadcasting Company in 1922.

The “100 Years of Our BBC” stamp collection was designed in collaboration with BBC Studios.

Head of BBC History Robert Seatter chose the programmes featured on each piece after research into which programmes were most popular with the Manx public.

“Selecting just twelve moments was extremely hard, but we hope we have captured something for everyone,” he said.

The Doctor’s are a-coming!

Figurines, Hero Collector, Doctor Set, Fourth Doctor, Peri, Thirteenth Doctor, Dalek, Cyberman

Gathered together at last, this TARDIS inspired box set includes a 100mm, hand-painted figure of Christopher Eccleston’s fiery Ninth Doctor, David Tennant’s charismatic and tempestuous Tenth Doctor, Matt Smith’s fun-loving Eleventh Doctor, Peter Capaldi’s fiercely intelligent Twelfth Doctor, and Jodie Whittaker’s compassionate and curious Thirteenth Doctor!

Would you like a jelly baby?

Figurines, Hero Collector, Doctor Set, Fourth Doctor, Peri, Thirteenth Doctor, Dalek, Cyberman

This 13.5” tall, hand-painted statuette captures the iconic likeness of the Fourth Doctor, as portrayed by Tom Baker.

The Fourth Doctor was an energetic eccentric – a bohemian wanderer with no respect for authority, whose clownish antics veiled a powerful, brooding intellect. His fantastic adventures included many and much-loved companions such as Sarah Jane Smith, K9, Romana I and II, and Leela.

Reunited

Hero Collector Figurine Sixth and Peri Set

The Sixth Doctor was caustic, melodramatic and downright stubborn, a significant change from Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor. His arrogance however concealed a core of empathy and passion, that saw him through countless challenges. His very first companion was Peri Brown, portrayed by Nicola Bryant.

Exterminate!

Figurines, Hero Collector, Doctor Set, Fourth Doctor, Peri, Thirteenth Doctor, Dalek, Cyberman

Yaz, Ryan and Graham discovered a disturbing plan to clone and weaponize salvaged Daleks into ‘Defence Drones’ in 2020’s Special, Revolution of the Daleks.

Faced with iron-fisted Prime Minister Jo Patterson and greedy US businessman Jack Robertston, their warnings fell on deaf ears. Fortunately, the Doctor was able to return in time to foil the cloned Dalek army – but in the end, the only thing that could defeat these new Daleks… was some even worse Daleks…

Excellent!

Figurines, Hero Collector, Doctor Set, Fourth Doctor, Peri, Thirteenth Doctor, Dalek, Cyberman

The Doctor’s past lives were reunited in The Five Doctors (1983) when a mysterious force drew five incarnations of the Time Lord together to the Death Zone on Gallifrey – along with some of their deadliest foes!

A squadron of Cybermen were among those brought to face the Doctor in the Game of Rassilon – ultimately, they proved no match for the more powerful combatants, including the Raston Warrior Robots…

The planet is the Sense-Sphere, home of the Sensorites, beings of immense intelligence and power. Unable to leave, the Doctor and his companions must deduce the Sensorites’ intentions: are they friendly, hostile, or frightened? And what is the deadly secret at the heart of the Sense-Sphere?

The set comprises of a First Doctor figure, a Sensorite Action Figure with Probe Accessory plus an alternative Sensorite ELDER Action Figure with Probe Accessory.

The Keys of Marinus Set

Doctor Who Character Options Aug 2021

This set is inspired by another classic First Doctor story, The Keys of Marinus, first broadcast in 1964.

On a remote island of glass surrounded by a sea of acid, there is a machine that can remove evil from the minds of an entire population — the Conscience of Marinus. Fearful of its immense power falling into the wrong hands, its sole guardian has scattered the machine’s operating keys across the planet. The TARDIS crew arrives to find the island under attack by the evil Voord. Marinus’ last line of defense — and its only hope — is the Conscience machine. The Doctor and his companions must undertake a deadly quest to recover the keys of Marinus…

The figures in this set include an Ian Chesterton action figure, accompanied by not one but two Voord Warriors with a dagger accessory.

The Power of The Daleks Set

Doctor Who Character Options Aug 2021

Inspired by the Second Doctor’s story, The Power of the Daleks, first broadcast in 1966.

The newly regenerated Time Lord and his companions, Polly and Ben, do battle with an old foe on the mysterious planet Vulcan. How will Polly and Ben cope with a new Doctor? How will the Doctor take to his new body? And how will they ever overcome the power of the Daleks?

This is the first in two History Daleks set, comprising of two highly detailed Daleks – the Silver Drone Dalek and Drone with Mutant Scoop Dalek.

The Day of the Daleks Set

Doctor Who Character Options Aug 2021

The Third Doctor’s classic story, Day of the Daleks, first broadcast in 1972, is also getting the action figure treatment.

On Earth in the 22nd century, Daleks have enslaved the planet and humans live in fear of their masters. Meanwhile, back in the 20th century, a peace conference is urgently needed to prevent World War Three. When reports reach UNIT of a ghost at Auderly House — the site for the conference — the Doctor and Jo decide to investigate. Danger is waiting for them there, including a trip two hundred years into the future without the TARDIS…

This action figure set includes the Gold Supreme Dalek and Grey drone Dalek.

Al Dewar Character Options’ Creative Director said:

“Once again we are delighted to be working with B and M in bringing a fresh new collection to the legions of fans. This substantial line up represents some of the finest early Doctor Who episodes and will be familiar to many from diehard fans to adults that spent their child hoods hiding behind the sofa on Saturdays at teatime!”

These action figures are available from B&M in the UK from mid-August 2021.

Coming soon, the Second Doctor and TARDIS action figures!

Coming soon, the Second Doctor and TARDIS action figures!

Character Options have announced a brand new Doctor Who set, available exclusively to pre-order online on their website.

Oh my giddy Aunt!

Doctor Who - the second doctor Character Otpions

This set celebrates one of the most iconic, and now sadly lost, adventures of Patrick Troughton’s tenure as the Second Doctor – The Abominable Snowmen. The set includes an electronic classic TARDIS and a Second Doctor figure.

The electronic classic TARDIS, featured by Character Options for the first time in over a decade, comes with different take-off and landing sounds. The TARDIS also features the more heavily weathered exterior and new colour plus the unique reversed front doors.

The new Second Doctor figure is a truly unique release, featuring the usual highly decorated look combined with full articulation on the arms.

The Abominable Snowman, first aired on 30th September 1967, sees fans join the newly regenerated Second Doctor in his eighth story. Set in 1935, the TARDIS has materialised high in in the Himalayas where The Doctor is trying to return a relic, a holy bell, borrowed several hundred years earlier, to the High Lama of the local Monastery. Unbeknownst to the Doctor and his companions, things have taken a dark turn and the monastery has been infiltrated by an ancient and evil alien entity known only as The Great Intelligence. The alien is using robot versions of the Yetis, better known as ‘the Abominable Snowmen’ a usually passive creature, to attack anyone coming near the monastery. As the Doctor becomes involved, and the full horror of what’s going on becomes clear, he vows to thwart its plans.

Perfect for all Doctor Who fans and collectors, the set comes beautifully presented in special presentation pack with diorama insert and Doctor Who heritage packaging.

Al Dewar, Character Options’ Creative Director, said.

“The Abominable Snowmen is, much like the ‘Jungles of Mechanus’ collectors’ set before it, quite unusual and features a lot of quite unique features in terms of its production. For instance the TARDIS itself is unusual in its weathered appearance, with the exterior paint covering the top signs and the colour appearing slightly more indigo than usual. Its look is generally more beaten up and scruffy than fans would usually see and features fully reversed front doors with the phone cubby box sign on right hand door with no handles. The Doctor’s look in this story echoes that of the TARDIS, with the addition of a huge shaggy fur coat held together with twine.

This Second Doctor set is available to pre-order online on the Character Options website.

Doctor Who - Hero collector figurines July 2021

These two Daleks are separated by almost four decades, but united in their hatred of the Doctor – and their loyalty to the Dalek Emperor, whose mad quest to increase the power of the Daleks led it to incorporate human qualities into their “perfect” forms.

The Ninth Doctor’s deadliest foes!

Doctor Who - Hero collector figurines July 2021

The Parting of the Ways was the final on-screen appearance of Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor, and the grand return of the Daleks. In Earth’s distant future, Dalek survivors of the Time War were forced to replenish their numbers using the biomatter of dead humans.

As creatures engineered to despise all non-Daleks, these half-humans Daleks were soon driven insane with self-hatred – becoming religious fanatics dedicated to their mad Dalek Emperor!

A black at heart Dalek…

Doctor Who - Hero collector figurines July 2021

The Evil of the Daleks was the first appearance of a Dalek Emperor, and was initially meant to be the Doctor’s final battle with his most iconic enemies! Captured by the Daleks, the Second Doctor seemingly agreed to help his old foes isolate the “human factor” that had foiled their previous plots.

The Black Daleks were the Dalek Emperor’s elite guards, with distinctive jet-black domes and the authority to command other Daleks. Once their fellow Daleks began to be “humanized”, however, cracks began appearing in their control…

Allons-y!

Doctor Who Hero Collector May 2021 Reveals

Standing over 12” tall, this hand-painted statuette captures the iconic likeness of the Tenth Doctor, as portrayed by David Tennant.

The Tenth Doctor was a charismatic adventurer whose easygoing attitude concealed a terrifying temper. He’s portrayed here fiddling with his Sonic Screwdriver, clad in his striped suit, trainers, and the tan overcoat that billowed behind him whenever he ran – which happened a great deal…

What hides in a Pandorica?

Doctor Who Hero Collector May 2021 Reveals

Abandoned beneath Stonehenge, this Cyberman was stationed as a guard for the ultimate prison – the Pandorica. By the time the Eleventh Doctor stumbled upon it, the cyborg’s organic components had decayed into skeletal remains, leaving it in need of replacements… and Amy Pond seemed like the perfect donor.

The ground around Stonehenge was littered with the metal remains of Cyberman guards, destroyed by the local humans – this final guard was ultimately destroyed at the hands (and gladius) of Rory Williams, resurrected as an Auton and a Roman Legionary.

An evil Doctor Lookalike!

Doctor Who Hero Collector May 2021 Reveals

A brilliant scientist, respected politician, and wealthy philanthropist, Salamander was widely loved for his work alleviating world hunger in the distant future of the year 2018. In truth, Salamander was a scheming, murderous mastermind bent on world domination… with an uncanny resemblance to the Second Doctor.

Played by Patrick Troughton in the same episode as the Second Doctor, Salamander even attempted to trick the Doctor’s companions into taking off with him in the TARDIS. (Images will be revealed soon)

Doctor Who Hero Collector Roundup April 2021

From the moment of his regeneration, the Doctor’s fifth incarnation was often indecisive and panicky, but was also honourable and honest, with strong moral fibre. The Fifth Doctor was accompanied by many companions; Australian air stewardess Tegan was a pessimistic voice of reason, while Nyssa was a gentle and trusting scientist who lost her father to the Master’s machinations. Adric, a proud boy genius, often clashed with others in the TARDIS, but ultimately gave his life to save Earth from the Cybermen.
