Originally aired in 1969, The War Games marked the end of an era for the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton), following him and his companions Zoe and Jamie as they land in a battlefield that appears to be a World War I military zone—but all is not as it seems.
They soon discover that soldiers from different historical periods have been abducted and are being manipulated in a cruel game. As they work to uncover the mystery behind the War Lord and his twisted experiments, the Doctor faces one of his most difficult challenges.
For the first time, these original episodes have been meticulously colourised and enhanced with updated visual effects edited into a new, 90-minute feature-length experience. With updated sound and a new score, this version of The War Games offers both fans and newcomers even more ways to watch the much-loved classic story.
In addition, the episode will also feature the Second Doctor’s never-before-seen regeneration into the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee), alongside recovered footage not seen since the original broadcast.
This release also includes the original ten episodes in black & white as they were first broadcast, plus all special features from the previous release.

Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 7 includes the following stories from 1970:
This evening we have been hearing unconfirmed reports that the next release in the “Doctor Who The Collection” range will be season 7, the first season to star Jon Pertwee as The Doctor from 1970 and the first season to transmit on the new BBC1 colour service.
Earlier today the Rarewaves eBay store were offering this title for pre-order, giving a release month of February 2025 however this listing was quickly removed! Again, we must stress that at this time all of this information is yet to be officially confirmed by the BBC.
Recently however, a prominent member of the team responsible for “The Collection” Range was seen proudly displaying a copy of the season 25 boxset with a computer screen in the background, which contained production details for “the next boxset release”. Some eagle eyed viewers spotted a production code relevant to Doctor Who: Inferno, which again lends weight to the season 7 rumour.
When we have more information, we will of course bring it to you!
It was announced today that the next Doctor Who animation will be the completely missing 1966 adventure “The Savages” starring William Hartnell as The Doctor.
In this serial, the Doctor (William Hartnell) and his travelling companions Steven (Peter Purves) and Dodo (Jackie Lane) arrive on an unnamed planet where they encounter two distinct people – the Elders and the Savages. They soon discover the Elders are the evil ones, draining the primitive Savages for their life source to remain young and powerful forever. This serial marks the final appearance of Purves as Steven.
To date, the serial is missing from the BBC archives. Although audio recordings, still photographs, and 8mm clips of the story exist, no episodes of this serial are known to have survived.
There was a listing on Amazon earlier today, however that has since been removed, but we can confirm that this title has been slated for release on 24th March 2025, stay tuned for further details!

Part-missing adventure ‘The Celestial Toymaker’ to be completed with new animation
THE CELESTIAL TOYMAKER will be returning as an animation and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray, coming soon.
The two-disc set contains the third season story as well as special features. This classic series stars the First Doctor, William Hartnell and companions Peter Purves as Steven Taylor and Jackie Lane as Dodo Chaplet, with Michael Gough as the Toymaker.
Fans of Doctor Who have long lamented the loss of the original 1966 master recordings of all except one of THE CELESTIAL TOYMAKER. BBC Studios have carefully created an animated presentation of this lost classic story using off-air audio recordings of the missing three episodes.
The Celestial Toymaker sees the Doctor and companions separated when they come up against the Toymaker. While the Doctor plays the Trilogic Game, Steven and Dodo are forced to play seemingly childish but ultimately dangerous games with the aim of being reunited and getting back to the TARDIS.
All episodes have been animated in both colour and black and white and include original film elements which have been fully restored.
Special features include:
Disc One
Episodes 1-4 – Animation – Black and White
Episodes 1-3 – Reconstruction
Episode 4 – Original 1966 Episode newly restored
New Audio Commentaries
Disc Two
