Captain Jack in new Doctor Who spin-off plays
Ready to get up close and personal with Captain Jack Harkness?
John Barrowman will reprise Jack in a new series of audio plays from Big Finish, known for their Doctor Who and Torchwood ranges.
His new spin-off, The Lives of Captain Jack, will delve into different points in the character’s complex personal history.
Russell Tovey will reprise his Doctor Who role of Alonso Frame for the episode ‘One Enchanted Evening’ – which will dramatise the character’s encounter with Jack after the events of the TV episode ‘The End of Time – Part Two’.
Camille Coduri is also back as Rose Tyler’s mum Jackie in ‘Wednesdays For Beginners’ – uniting with Jack to rescue the Powell Estate from a mysterious alien force.
‘The Year After I Died’ will pick up with Jack in the year 200,101 on an Earth ravaged by Daleks, while ‘Month 25’ will see Barrowman play a young Jack, who’s still a Time Agent in the 51st century.
“I find it really easy to slip into Captain Jack,” quipped Barrowman. “There’s a bit of Jack in John and vice versa.
“What’s great about these stories is that they’re the kind of episode we didn’t have time for on TV – exploring aspects of Jack that you’ve never seen before in a timey-wimey way.”
More guest stars confirmed for the release include Alexander Vlahos (Versailles), Sarah Douglas (Superman II) and Katy Manning (Doctor Who).
The Lives of Captain Jack will be released in June 2017 and is available to pre-order now from bigfinish.com.
Big Finish have also released new plays starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, Alex Kingston as River Song, John Hurt as the War Doctor and Ingrid Oliver as Osgood.
