Torchwood will follow classic Doctor Who and stream on Twitch this month
Following on from the first ever Doctor Who digital broadcasting event kicking off earlier this year, now it’s time for Torchwood to come to Twitch.
For a seven-week period from the end of May, TwitchPresents set about airing over 500 episodes from 26 seasons of the classic series of Doctor Who worldwide and starting this Sunday (July 15), Captain Jack Harkness will be joining in the fun too.
Torchwood originally aired between 2006 and 2011, and all four series of Torchwood will stream on Twitch every Sunday for the next four weeks, airing at 6pm in the UK (10am PDT).
Each of the series will be shown in full, following John Barrowman’s Captain Jack Harkness as the leader of the Torchwood Institute’s Cardiff Branch in the first two series before moving on to the two special event series Children of Earth and Miracle Day.
The full schedule is as follows:
- July 15 – Torchwood: Series One
- July 22 – Torchwood: Series Two
- July 29 – Torchwood: Children of Earth
- August 5 – Torchwood: Miracle Day
Since the series wrapped up in 2011, the Torchwood story has been continuing in a number of audio plays, and earlier this year Big Finish reunited the full Torchwood team – Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato – for new play Believe.
Big Finish is also planning an official ‘sixth series’ of Torchwood in a new project that will see John Barrowman reprise his role of Captain Jack for Torchwood – God Among Us, a new set of audio plays which pick up where the previous Aliens Among Us left off.
Torchwood: Series 6, Part 1 launches this next set of adventures in October 2018. Part 2 will follow in February 2019, and part 3 will complete the season in June 2019.
And, of course, you can re-live the entire series so far on Twitch from July 15 too.
