The BBC wants to turn its popular franchises like Doctor Who and Top Gear into “high-tech visitor attractions” across the world.

On top of pre-existing themed attractions at Paramount London, BBC Worldwide is looking to Asia and beyond as sites for 3D filmed experiences based on properties.

BBC Worldwide’s Stephen Davies told The Guardian: “We’re always interested in working with partners who can help us extend fans’ enjoyment of the BBC brands they love.

“Abroad, we’re looking for fixed-attraction opportunities in Asia and we operate and license a number of UK attractions, including CBeebies Land and the Doctor Who Experience, and we’re looking forward to running Countryfile Live at Blenheim this August.”

The Doctor Who Experience remains an extremely popular tourist attraction for fans of the sci-fi series.

It opened in Cardiff in 2012, and contains memorabilia and interactive shows based on the wide world of Doctor Who.

There is no timetable yet for when these new BBC Worldwide attractions could be formally commissioned.
