The Christmas Special, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, had an estimated audience of 5.7 million viewers on BBC One, a share of 27.1% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.  It should however be stressed that once the catch up figures are factored in, that is to say, viewers that have watched this episode via the BBC iPlayer or other time-shifted methods, this rating is likely to increase significantly.
