Doctor Who Adventures moves to Panini
The Gallifreyan Newsroom today received confirmation that Panini UK, already publishers of Doctor Who Magazine, take over the publication of Doctor Who Adventures from Immediate Media later next month, we have a treat for you – a first look at the first new strip for the comic, written by Jason Quinn and drawn by Russ Leach, coloured by Marvel UK veteran John Burns.
“The pages are coming together well,” Russ says of his work on the new stories so far. “I’m about to start another issues pencils today. [Colourist] John Burns’ colours are lovely!
“I’m so grateful to be chosen by Jason to work on this gig,” he continues. “I’m a big fan of Doctor Who (Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker being the Doctors of my youth, and I’m loving Peter Capaldi) and I hope my take on the characters pleases the readers!
“I’m also very keen on being involved in comics for Doctor Who Adventures demographic – I grew up with comics and love the idea of being involved in producing strips for the 8-15 market.”
“I’ve mostly used a more adult style for the books I’ve been involved with so far,” he says of his art, “so I’ve had to adapt and create a style that is lighter but at the same time not watering down the character too far – Jason is pleased with where we have it and so am I!”
The final Doctor Who Adventures from Immediate Media is on sale now (see news story) and the Panini UK edition will follow into newsagents in April – with an all-new Issue One.
