JOHN NATHAN TURNER WINS PUBLIC VOTE FOR BUS NAME!
Name That Bus – Results:
Brighton and Hove Bus Company would like to thank the public for their submissions for the Name That Bus competition. The company are pleased to announce the winners of the competition who will have their names added to the 24 new Coaster buses to be deployed on Route 12. The first 15 names that were selected from over one hundred submissions are as follows:
Frank Bridge, Dora Bryan, Adrian Bunting , Henry Coxwell, Jonathan Darby, Dr Jan De Winter, Gracie Fields, Ian Gow, Rudyard Kipling, The Lawrence Sisters, Dame Anna Neagle, Edith Nesbitt, Don Partridge, Erin Ravilious, Ralph Reader.
After shortlisting from the remaining submissions, the public were asked to vote from the final 31 names with the 9 most popular names being selected for the remaining buses. The winners are as follows:
Bill Axcell, Zoe Brigden, Brian Cobby, George Holkham, Jamie Janes, Richard Jones, John Nathan-Turner, Alfred Richardson and Eric Slater.
The number 12 services Brighton, Rottingdean, Saltdean, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford, East Dean and Eastbourne, providing breathtaking views as it mixes country and coast as it passes through the South Downs National Park. The new buses come with a host of new features including low emission ‘Euro 6’ engines, free Wi-Fi, an upper deck table with USB charge points, softer seating, ‘talking buses’ with next stop information and real time tracking of bus locations.
