The Time Lord might not re-materialise till the end of next year.

Here’s the latest on Doctor Who series 10 – it’s looking like Peter Capaldi will be back on set in spring 2016.

Michael Pickwoad, production designer on the series, revealed in an interview with Radio Free Skaro that he expects to start working on new episodes in February or March.
“[Work on series 10] won’t start until well into the New Year,” he said. “So it will be probably be February [or] March before we start getting onto the next one.”

The previous two series of Doctor Who began filming in January for an autumn launch – so could series 10 be looking at a late 2016 launch?
Speaking to press including Digital Spy last week, Who showrunner Steven Moffat refused to comment on scheduling but confirmed that he is signed up for 13 more episodes.
“If you’re talking about scheduling, that’s BBC One – they will speak,” he said. “I know that what I’ve signed on to do is 13 more episodes of Doctor Who – including a Christmas special.

“I’m trying to argue for slightly more than that, but we’ll see. It’s all in action, it’s not that long away. It’s really close.”

The current series of Doctor Who continues this Saturday (November 14) at 8.15pm on BBC One.
