Cast of Doctor Who, Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi, plus writer Steven Moffat, (second left behind chair) and executive producer Brian Minchin, (left behind chair), have their picture taken with the whole cinema audience at Cineworld in Cardiff.

Doctor Who fans were treated to not one, but two episodes of Doctor Who series nine tonight unlike Scottish and English fans who only got to see one.

Writer Steven Moffat said “we saved episode two for the Welsh.”

The sucking up to the audience worked wonderfully as Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Moffat, along with executive producer Brian Minchin, received a deserved warm welcome from the crowd gathered at Cineworld in the Welsh capital.

After watching the two exciting episodes, The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar, the panel took part in a generous-spirited Q&A session which took in topics such as their favourite episodes, would they do a musical episode and a discussion about guitars with Peter Capaldi.

A big new wave and punk fan, Capaldi also revealed that he’d love to have musical heroes David Bowie and Keith Richards guest star in the series.

Talking about a guitar he uses in the first episode, he said: “It was a great day when I got to go and pick the Doctor’s guitar on Denmark Street. At first I thought he should play a Strat, but that looked like I was having a mid-life crisis.
“In the end I picked a guitar that looked like one someone who had never picked up a guitar might play!”

When asked specifically about the brand new Christmas episode, Moffat teased: “All the specific detail of the Christmas episode will be known…..at the end of Christmas Day!”

At the end of the Q&A everyone took part in this massive group photo – can you spot yourself?
