‘Where is the Doctor? Doctor Who returns Saturday 19 September.

It’s only 19 seconds long, but the trailer for the first episode of series nine, The Magician’s Apprentice, raises plenty of questions – and opens with some seriously creepy hands.
No, we’re not talking about the Doctor’s gesticulating this time. Just what are those mud-slick hands with eyeballs embedded in their palms? Who is that mysterious boy screaming “help me”? And for that matter, who is the snarling, hooded chap who demands to know the Doctor’s whereabouts (and not because he wants to shake his hand, we’re guessing)?
What we do know is that the skies of Earth have been frozen by a mysterious alien force, but the Doctor is nowhere to be found…
