DVD subtitle error has Peter Capaldi saying ‘Oh sh*t’

DVD subtitle error has Peter Capaldi saying ‘Oh sh*t’

Peter Capaldi Doctor Who Oh Shit

A mistake in Doctor Who‘s DVD subtitles has Peter Capaldi’s Doctor resembling his The Thick of It character Malcolm Tucker even more than usual.

The error on the Region 1 DVD box set for the first half of last year’s Season 9 features on ‘The Woman Who Lived’.

Rather brilliantly, the Doctor’s sweary reaction fits the scene absolutely perfectly.

When Ashildr (Maisie Williams) and Leandro (Ariyon Bakare) inform the Doctor that the amulet requires a death, he responds simply: “Oh shit.”

The new season of Doctor Who is currently filming in Cardiff and begins on BBC One in April 2017.

Doctor Who 9 10 Joivan Wade Rigsy Face the raven

Joivan Wade has revealed he’s up for returning to Doctor Who as Rigsy.

Rigsy first appeared in 2014’s ‘Flatline’ and was last seen in 2015’s ‘Face the Raven’.

Wade said recently: “I have no idea if Rigsy will return – I didn’t know I’d come back when I did the first one in series eight. But I’d be up for it. I love Doctor Who, it’s wicked.”

Discussing the show’s fan base, he added: “Even just the culture, the fans. It’s crazy – they’re so dedicated and you don’t get that with a lot of shows. I still receive crazy fan-mail now, loads. On EastEnders, you get quite a bit, but this is more than I have for any other show.”

Wade joined the cast of EastEnders earlier this year as Denise Fox’s step-son Jordan.

The 23-year-old actor also revealed that he’s been going back and watching older episodes since filming his Doctor Who appearances.

He said: “I watched a few episodes of Matt Smith, a few episodes from David Tennant, and then the stuff with Peter – just looking at the differences, really, and how it’s evolved. I liked them all for different reasons. My favourite is going to be Peter because I know him, I’ve worked with him, so as a person you connect, and I feel like Peter brings something very different to the Doctor… his experience. The way he carries himself is very different.”

STEVEN MOFFAT SAYS ‘K9 IS AWESOME’

STEVEN MOFFAT SAYS ‘K9 IS AWESOME’

K-9

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine – no. 504, out now – reveals that showrunner Steven Moffat is a big fan of K9 and has considered bringing back the former companion.

K9 was a companion to the Fourth Doctor, first appearing in 1977, received his own special, K9 & Company, and then returned, briefly, in the 20th Anniversary Special, The Five Doctors, and then again in 2006’s School Reunion with the Tenth Doctor. After this, K9 made further appearances in another spin-off, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and then received his own series, the short-lived K9, in 2009.

In the regular Ask Steven Moffat page, one reader asks about a possible return for the lovable tin dog, to which the Scotsman replies:

“I think K9 is incredibly funny and I love him. I’ve considered bringing him back into Doctor Who many times, but it’s never quite worked out”.

My favourite version of it was in Last Christmas – there was a scene that I wrote and deleted because there wasn’t time – when Santa Claus was demonstrating the danger of the Dream Crabs by having them analysed by Rudolph’s nose and the Doctor says, “Can’t you see how stupid this is?”

At which point, K9 entered the room and said, “I could analyse that Master.” And he says, “Just go away. Go away. Leave me alone.” I never got to do it, but I’d love to have done it.

I love K9. K9 is awesome.’

“Class”, starting October 22nd 2016 on BBC3

Coal Hill acts like a beacon across all of space and time to any being who might want to use it for mischief….you’ll have to be on your guard.

  • Class drops on BBC Three, Saturday 22 October with the first and second episode For Tonight We Might Die and The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo
  • Peter Capaldi appears as the Doctor in the opening episode
  • Class World premiere details announced – Thursday 20 October

Peter Capaldi will join the cast of exciting new talent in the opening episode of the series, For Tonight We Might Die. Coal Hill School holds some very dark and deadly secrets in its shadows… but who will survive?

Commenting on his involvement with the new Doctor Who spin-off series, Peter Capaldi, says: “The Doctor Who family is growing, and it’s fantastic to be able to welcome the young new cast of Class in to the Whoniverse.”

It’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them. And this incursion is only the beginning.

Charlie (Greg Austin), April (Sophie Hopkins), Ram (Fady Elsayed) and Tanya (Vivian Oparah), assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly), are charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) to guard against the creatures of nightmare that want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.

Patrick Ness has created intriguing and complex characters that have to navigate their way through more than just teenage hormones, exams and detention. Joining them as series regulars are Jordan Renzo (Chosen, Troubled), Pooky Quesnel (The A Word, Accused), Nigel Betts (Boy Meets Girl, Doctor Who). The first two episodes also feature Ben Peel (The Fall, Vampire Academy), Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter, Hollyoaks), Paul Marc Davies (Doctor Who, Torchwood), and Shannon Murray (The Totally Senseless Gameshow).

YA writer and Class creator Patrick Ness, says: “At last, we can tell you a little more about Class! Though there are still many, many secrets to come. Many. Like, a lot. But of COURSE, the Doctor is in episode one! That’s how these things are done. Truly, though, I can’t wait for everyone to see the show; we’ve worked so hard and I’m so proud of it. Soon, soon…”

Damian Kavanagh, Controller, BBC Three, says: “We know lots of BBC Three fans are Doctor Who fans so Class on BBC Three is a perfect fit. It’s nice to be back as part of the Doctor Who family.”

From Writer Patrick Ness, Director Ed Bazalgette (Poldark, Doctor Who), Producer Derek Ritchie, and Executive Producers Patrick Ness, Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin, the BBC Studios Wales production, co-produced with BBC America and BBC Worldwide.

A History of Humankind – The Doctor’s Official Guide

Over billions of years of time travel, the Doctor has run into his fair share of important people – and he’s formed opinions on most of them too. Now the Twelfth Doctor has got hold of a history textbook from Coal Hill School, and he’s decided to improve it with notes of his own.

From Nefertiti to Robin Hood, this essential Doctor’s guide gives us his unique take on Earth’s most famous historical figures. Through annotations, scribblings and his trademark snarky humour, the Doctor has plenty to say about the pudding-brained humans he’s met on his travels.

It’s history . . . but perhaps not quite as you know it!
