Series 10 cast announcement! Acting legend David Suchet will play the Landlord in an episode written by Mike Bartlett. We can’t wait, mon ami!
It’s not yet known whether The Landlord will be a friend or an enemy of the Doctor and his his new companion Bill, but judging by the photo, he’s got a few secrets of his own.
Meanwhile, fans on social media are speculating as to whether one of Doctor Who’s most famous monsters will make an appearance in the spin-off show, Class.
Fady Elsayed, who will play one of the pupils in the series centring around the fictional Coal Hill School, which featured in the very first episode of Doctor Who, shared an image of himself with a Weeping Angel on Twitter.
Elsayed accompanied the tweet with the words: “#DoctorWho #ClassDw”.
Class is currently filming in Cardiff, where Doctor Who is shot. Former Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly, lately seen in acclaimed series Happy Valley, has been cast as a teacher in Class.
The eight-part series will be available on BBC Three later this year.
His fans have spoken, but despite their requests, Peter Davison has gone ahead and written his autobiography anyway. It wasn’t the book they tried to stop it was more like the book they didn’t want him to start. An aspiring singer-songwriter, once dubbed Woking’s answer to Bob Dylan (by his mum, who once heard a Bob Dylan song), Peter actually penned a hit for Dave Clarke (still awaiting royalties) but soon swapped a life on the pub circuit to tread the boards.
From colonial roots – his dad was Guyanese and his mother was born in India – the family settled in Surrey where Peter’s academic achievements were unspectacular he even managed to fail CSE woodwork, eliciting a lament from his astonished teacher ( All you have to do is recognise wood! ).
Despite this, Peter has secured his place in science fiction history, becoming the fifth Doctor Who, despite nearly turning down the role. The Time Lord connection continued with the marriage of his daughter Georgia to Dr Who number ten, David Tennant.
The artist formerly known as Peter Malcolm Gordon Moffett has starred in a number of television series including Love for Lydia, A Very Peculiar Practice, At Home with the Braithwaites and The Last Detective and became a national treasure for having his arm up a cow in his role as Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small. He was also in a Michael Winner movie…
He made his first stage appearance with an amateur dramatic company, but The Byfleet Players loss is now the West End s gain as he now has a number of musicals to his name, including Legally Blonde,Chicago and Spamalot. Most recently he starred in the box office record breaking Gypsy where he rubbed shoulders backstage with Dames Meryl Streep, Maggie Smith and Judi Dench all asking him for directions to Imelda Staunton’s dressing room.
One thing is for sure: of all the British screen and stage actors of the last fifty years, Peter Davison is certainly one of them and, within these pages, intrepid readers will at last have the dubious honour of sharing in his life and times as he despairs over whether there truly ever can be life outside the box.

The Doctor Who team will apparently be heading to Canada later this year as filming on the new season continues.
The second block of filming for Season 10 is currently underway in Wales, comprising of Episode 3, written by Sarah Dollard (‘Face the Raven’), and Episode 4, written by Doctor Foster creator Mike Bartlett.
Peter Capaldi reportedly told fans on set yesterday, verified by several sources on Twitter, that location filming will be taking place in Vancouver in October.
If true, this won’t be the first time Doctor Who has shot there. Paul McGann made his debut as the Eighth Doctor twenty years ago in ‘The TV Movie’, which was filmed entirely in Vancouver in 1996.
‘The TV Movie’ is coming to Blu-ray for the first time next month.
Many US sci-fi TV shows are based in Vancouver, including Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and The X-Files.
Interestingly, director Rachel Talalay – who helmed ‘Dark Water’, ‘Death in Heaven’, ‘Heaven Sent’ and ‘Hell Bent’ – is a film professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and has previously directed episodes of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow in the city. Could she be returning in Season 10?
Talalay was also recently linked to the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
The new season of Doctor Who began filming in Cardiff in June and will air on BBC One in spring 2017.
Peter Capaldi climbing inside fan’s mini TARDIS is adorable
Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi was so impressed with a young fan’s TARDIS earlier this week that he climbed inside to pose for a photo.
Perhaps unintentionally recreating a scene from 2014’s ‘Flatline’ episode, the actor enthusiastically squeezed into the wardrobe, which he described as “brilliant”. Capaldi also took the time to sign the TARDIS door for the fan.
The new eight-part Doctor Who spin-off, created by YA author Patrick Ness, began filming in Cardiff in April and will premiere on BBC Three this autumn.
BBC Three became an online-only channel earlier this year, meaning that viewers need an internet connection to watch the channel’s content on BBC iPlayer.
However, Class writer Patrick Ness has previously confirmed plans for the show to air on BBC One following its debut on BBC Three.
He revealed: “The plan is, Class airs on BBC3 online, then on BBC1.
Class will air in the US on BBC America later this year.
The BBC’s synopsis for Class reads: “Like all sixth formers, these four Coal Hill School students have hidden secrets and desires. They are facing their own worst fears, navigating a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow – and possibly the end of existence.
“Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who Universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. All the time travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into Shadow.
“Fear is coming, tragedy is coming, war is coming. Prepare yourselves, Class is coming.”
The show’s cast includes Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah as four Sixth Formers, with Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street) playing a “powerful” teacher at Coal Hill School and Doctor Who actor Nigel Betts reprising the role of Mr Armitage.
Peter Capaldi is also believe to have filmed a cameo role in Class as the Doctor.
Doctor Who has been filming in Newport again today (12.08.2016)
The famous blue police box appeared on Fields Park Avenue, prompting several fans nearby and others from across the country to head to the road.
In between shots Peter Capaldi, the actor who plays the starring role, came out to meet star-struck fans and several small children.
Mr Capaldi said of filming in Newport: “It seems a very nice and pleasant place to film. It’s a little bit more relaxed but that depends on how popular you are.
“Filming has been good and I hope that these fans have had a great time seeing us today.”
Most of the fans had come from nearby but several had travelled from afar, including a family from Lincolnshire.
Jessica Tan, 29, from Ponthir, said: “I saw a tweet about it after work and just had to pop down. It’s amazing that not only are they filmiong outside of Cardiff but for them to be filming in a little side street is unbelievable.
“I didn’t know they used locations around here before.”
While filming was taking place at Fields House, which has previously been used in an episode called Blink, crew and cast have set up base at Bassaleg School.
Mike Pobjoy, 49, from Bassaleg, popped along with his daughter and said: “It was good of Peter to come out and greet us, the crew have also been nice enough. Before we went to see Matt Smith filming and were standing for four hours in the cold and not one came out.”
Daughter Lottie, 14, added: “It’s good because it’s something you know and you will see it and then relate to the location used.”
A number of locations in Newport, including Belle Vue Park and Duffryn High School, have been used for previous series of Doctor Who.
Mushroom Deaton travelled with her husband and two sons from Heighington, Lincolnshire, and said: “We saw them filming in Cardiff and at Caerphilly Castle, but this has been really amazing, its a beautiful house to use.
“We have been in Wales all week as my eldest has an itinerary of filming spots we are going to.”
One visiting fan, Sandra Franklin, had even moved to Wales a few years ago and was impressed of their choice of location.
She said: “I came after work and I love it when they use old locations like this, you can imagine it in the show and it makes it seem real.
“They could just green screen it but it wouldn’t be the same and as a fan, you would know, so its great to see them out on set.”
