PETER CAPALDI ASKED TOM HANKS TO GUEST STAR IN AN EPISODE?

Peter Capaldi asked Tom Hanks for Doctor Who cameo

The Time Lord was given a special mission to tempt Hanks into the TARDIS

Peter Capaldi has revealed he asked Tom Hanks to guest star in an episode of Doctor Who.
The actor – who plays the titular Time Lord in the BBC series – was working alongside the Oscar winner recently when he was asked by the show’s producer to see if he could be tempted to make an appearance.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, he said: “I think Doctor Who is a great venue for any kind of actor, funnily enough they were trying to persuade me to … I was working with Tom Hanks the other night and the producer was on to me saying, ‘Try and persuade Tom to come and be in the show.’ ”

Although Capaldi asked the question, Hanks unfortunately rebuffed his offer as he has too many other work commitments.
The star added: “I did have a word with him but he is very busy at the moment.”

Capaldi has some ideas of his own for guest stars and would love to shoot some scenes opposite one of his rock idols. The actor – whose portrayal of the Twelfth Doctor has been seen playing the guitar this season – said: “I think it would be good to have some rock stars, I’d like to see Keith Richards or David Bowie [come on].”

MARK GATISS IS ALREADY PLANNING A SEQUEL TO ‘SLEEP NO MORE’

MARK GATISS IS ALREADY PLANNING A SEQUEL TO ‘SLEEP NO MORE’

Doctor Who S09E9: 'Sleep No More'

The sinister Sandmen could be making a comeback.

If you enjoyed tonight’s Doctor Who, then the good news is that a sequel could be coming your way.

Mark Gatiss revealed to press including Digital Spy that Who showrunner Steven Moffat has asked for a follow-up to ‘Sleep No More’.

“Steven’s asked me if I’ll write a sequel – I’ll see if I can do that,” he said. “If I can think of one, I would certainly like to do it, because I think the idea is good and the monsters are great.”

The ambiguous climax to ‘Sleep No More’ certainly hints at a return for the sinister Sandmen, with Gatiss hinting at a very different setting for the sequel.”I suppose you’d have to think… where else would they go?” he said. “But the Doctor loses in this episode and that’s an unusual place to be, so it sort of needs some closure.”Having penned eight episodes of Doctor Who since the show’s relaunch in 2005, Gatiss insisted that he still has plenty of ideas for more scripts – though some are just “nuggets, tiny things”.

“I’d love to do a story about fracking – it seems to me like an incredibly Doctor Who idea,” he said. “Because it’s obviously a bad idea, no matter what the supposed rewards.

“As well as shale gas, maybe there’s something else lurking under there… I’d like to do that. I’d call it, ‘Frack Off and Die’!”

Gatiss also admitted he wouldn’t be adverse to adapting one of his previous Doctor Who works – the Big Finish audio play Invaders from Mars – for television.

“It’s set on the night of Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds broadcast, and there’s a real invasion,” he explained. “It came out delightfully for Big Finish 13 years ago, but I think that’d be good. If you have a good idea, go back to it!”

Doctor Who continues next Saturday at 8.10pm on BBC One.

BETHANY BLACK: ‘FANS TRY TO HACK YOUR E-MAIL TO STEAL SCRIPTS’

Apparently Doctor Who fans are so passionate about the series, they try to hack into the actors’ email accounts to access scripts.

New Doctor Who guest star Bethany Black said security is very tight on the show.
She told Pink News: “And also you should change your passwords on your email every week from the moment it’s been announced that you are going to be in Doctor Who.
“Because people will try and hack in and steal scripts and try and do all of these things.”

She said that people are “crazy obsessed” with the show.
“I was at the wrap party on Friday and one of the producers was saying ‘have you had any sniffers or lickers yet,’ I went ‘no, no’!
“He responded: ‘Ah, don’t worry, they’ll come, you’ll get them!'”

The 36-year-old actress and comedian will make a guest appearance in tonight’s (November 14) episode titled ‘Sleep No More’.

DOCTOR WHO SHOULD MIX IT UP A BIT WITH THE NEXT COMPANION

DOCTOR WHO SHOULD MIX IT UP A BIT WITH THE NEXT COMPANION

Doctor Who 9.3, 'Under the Lake'

“There’s never been a male / male combination – you’d probably get fan fiction going crazy!”

Mark Gatiss has had his say on Doctor Who’s next companion – and he wants the long-running sci-fi series to “mix it up a bit”.
Gatiss – who has written this Saturday’s episode, ‘Sleep No More’ – told press including Digital Spy that he’d like the show to divert from the “younger female companion”.
“It’s not in my hands but I think it would be really interesting to mix it up a bit,” he said. “There’s never been a male / male combination – I think that would be quite interesting. You’d probably get fan fiction going crazy!

“To be honest, nobody knows anything – that’s the truth. There was this hard and fast rule about what the companions always had to be – in traditional sexist terms, ‘something for the dads’ – and then Catherine Tate came in.
“Here was the first companion who was actually older than the Doctor – in real life – with a very different style… and everyone loved it. So you can never tell.
“If you found a companion who is not at all what you think you might be looking for, but there’s an immediate spark [with their co-star], then the audience will respond to that.”

Gatiss also reiterated his support for a female Doctor, and a black Doctor, “but only when the right person comes along”.”I absolutely think there should be a female Doctor, there should be a black Doctor… but not because anyone’s trying to tick a box,” he said. “I suppose the same goes for companions – you just find the right person.”
Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara, will exit Doctor Who this series, with showrunner Steven Moffat insisting that the next companion will be a new character and not an established favourite like Osgood (Ingrid Oliver).

Each screening will also include a 15-minute behind-the-scenes featurette and an interview with Alex Kingston, who is returning as The Doctor’s wife Professor River Song.

A description for the Christmas special is as follows: “It’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure.”Time traveler River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.”
Tickets can be purchased for these screenings through Fathom, beginning on Friday (November 13) – again, only in the US.

Doctor Who’s Christmas episode will mark the first on-screen appearance for Professor Song since 2013’s series ender ‘The Name of the Doctor’.

DOCTOR WHO MEETS STAR TREK? IN A HEARTBEAT, SAYS STEVEN MOFFAT

DOCTOR WHO MEETS STAR TREK? IN A HEARTBEAT, SAYS STEVEN MOFFAT

Doctor Who/Star Trek

Could the greatest ever sci-fi crossover become a reality?

Could the ultimate sci-fi crossover – Doctor Who meets Star Trek – ever happen?
Steven Moffat, showrunner on Who since 2010, has said he would do it “in a heartbeat” – though he has some conditions.
For one, he wouldn’t be satisfied by a crossover with the new Star Trek series being developed by CBS for launch in 2017.

“If it crossed over with Star Trek, it would have to be real Star Trek,” Moffat said. “It would have to be Captain Kirk and Mr Spock. It has to be the Doctor meets Mr Spock – that’s the one you want.”I mean, would I do it? Yes, in a heartbeat. I think you might find the Americans a little bit trickier to deal with!”
How about it, Paramount? Is there room for a Time Lord and his TARDIS on the Starship Enterprise?
